The day started out dull and threatening rain, but the sun came out just as we started to play. We got through our set and were waiting for the officials to take turns at the mike when the thunder started to grumble. But the rain held off and everyone got their turn at the mike, the crowds got fed on free hotdogs and everyone was in the festive mood and ready for the parade.
Then the heavens opened up and the rain came pouring down, and it was iffy that the parade would proceed.
But just in time, the clouds broke, the rain stopped, the sun came out, and the parade was on! The rain did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of the crowds which lined the entire parade route.
We had pipe bands, and miniature horses. We had displays of dance and gymnastics.
And of course, there was the Goderich Laketown Band. Yes, we managed to keep dry and soldier on. It turned out to be a perfect day. Happy Canada 150!
